Banchelor in Tesl: How?

Hi, I'm back again to talk about TESL related life experience. I hope those who read my blog posts find the informations/ experiences that I have shared somewhat useful. If not, I'll try to improve myself in the future. So, like what I have stated in my last post (which was months ago), I am currently during Banchelor in TESL in...

DRUM ROLL

University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)!

*GASP*

"But you failed medsi how the hell did you manage to enrol yourself in one of the prestigious university in Malaysia? A government university on top of that?!"

Surprise, surprise. This, people, is what I call luck.

To those who do not pass MEDSI, listen carefully, there's a way to further your studies in Banchelor in TESL else than going for IPTS. But then again, there's no problem with going to MSU, Nottingham or Taylor Universities.

Under Pusat Kembangan Pelajaran (PKP) in UKM, executive programs are introduced for Degree students. The concept is somewhat the same as the ones organised by UIA. And when I mention executive programs, it means that even though you are applying for IPTA, the 4 years (for tesl) education charges are not supported by the government or ministry of education which means you have to pay the fees fully (yes, tak ada subsidi).

Yes (again), it is somewhat like IPTS. Weird, right?

For TESL, the total payment is 44K for the whole 8 semesters; 5.5K for each semester and that does not include the hostel fees and whatnots. Ya, ini bayaran course sarjana muda tesl tanpa subsidi.  Terkejut? Yas, I pun sama.

You can apply for this if you are so keen to take TESL or you do not receive any university offer. MSU offers about 42K for Banchelor in TESL. You can go ahead and give a shot at MSU too. I applied for both MSU and UKM, received both offers but with my mom's encouragement and reasonings, I choose UKM. Now, now, I don't choose UKM mainly because of the name/ brand but it is my mother's wish for one of her children to study at UKM so being a good daughter I am, I choose UKM.

It was a hard decision to make. Before I accepted UKM's offer, MSU had called me with a promising bargain; they offered to list my name as a potential candidate for the President's Scholarship. It is a scholarship by MSU for their students who achieve good results and knowing that I had a potential of getting the scholarships made it harder for me to make my decision.

Oh, and just like IPTS, there'll be no interviews or exams to enrol in UKM's executive programs but the requirements stay the same as UKM's requirements (CGPA and MUET result kena jaga, make sure lepas daripada apa yang dia nak). For TESL, the fun part is they will overlook our 'non-existent' MEDSI result, which is excellent if you face the same problem as I once had.

I'm studying TESL in UKM, with other students; the ones who were originally accepted by UKM, same classes and lectures. I've got to enjoy all the facilities in UKM just like other UKM students. I am a UKM student. The only differences are our matric number and the way we enrolled ourselves in UKM.

This gives me a bittersweet closure, actually. MEDSI deemed me unqualified to be an educator, taking away all of my chances to attend interviews to prove my worth but to know that I am accepted by UKM even though it's under PKP, it honestly assures me that it's alright, I'm going to be alright that I am qualified, my hard work pays off, my tears, sweat and partially losing my sanity are worth it and it's enough. I'm enough.

That's all that matters, really.

If you are like me, you want to be here, in UKM, I'll leave the link to PKP website down below.

I will update more in the future.

Banchelor in TESL UKM: First Semester

I decided to update today, a day before I start my second semester. So, semester one is a roller coaster ride for me. It was tough, so many sleepless nights and anxiety thoughts. I enrolled in UKM on week 7, right on the mid-sem of the first semester. I was forced to merge with the 'arus perdana' students of UKM which means I had to catch up with all the seven weeks that I have missed; the seven weeks worth of assignments and the seven weeks worth of lectures. It was insane but I somehow made it. I remember on the first week of my enrolment, I suddenly needed to take a quiz of a subject I barely knew about. Can you imagine yourself having to take a quiz about an alien topic? I had to go through that since there'll be no exceptions or handicap for me even though I was a fresh, new student in Banchelor of TESL. My answers were all nonsense, nothing seems right so when I walked out from the exam hall, there was only one thing on my mind; I am going to fail this for sure. O...

Interview Asasi Tesl 2015

Assalammualaikum to dear readers. I make this blog just to put up my experience in Foundation in Tesl's interview since I realize that this experience is indeed valuable and needed to be shared to the upcoming generations that are interested in taking this course in the future. Like any other bloggers who post out about this particular topic, I'll be doing the same thing- I'll tell you about: 1) Documents needed for the interview 2) Preparations 3) Clothing 4) A place to stay for the night (for those who are going to have their interview in UiTM Pasir Gudang) 5) Writing test and also the holy interview.  I'm not sure if this will help you or not but I do hope that it will help you in someways, tho. So, let's move on. The first thing you need to do once you are being called for the interview is preparing the documents that are requested by UiTM. Print two copies of each documents as a precaution measure. Anything can happen so it's better to be prep...

Welcome to Dengkil : Pros and Cons!

I have started my second semester in a new place, UiTM Dengkil, Selangor about more or less three weeks ago! Well, everywhere you go, they'll be pros and cons and the same case can be applied to this matter. But everything I listed down here might change in the future so please don't immediately say no to this brand new place, okay? Lets start with the pros. What do I like about Dengkil? 1) IOI City Mall Putrajaya It's just 20 minutes away from UiTM Dengkil and don't worry, there are buses that will take you to IOI for only RM3.00! Back in Lendu, we need to go for half an hour to one hour ride just to reach AEON, which is the nearest shopping complex we can go to. Don't get me wrong, people. I love Lendu as well. There's AEON and Dataran Pahlawan. But in terms of transportation, I might prefer IOI better. If you want to go to IOI via Taxi (metered taxi), it'll cost you around RM25-RM30. 2) Putrajaya Sentral Near to the bus station. Plus...
